Low quiz grades... Students who earned less than a 2 on a quiz are required to make corrections on the quiz and resubmit it (use notes, use a different color for new answers, don't erase old answers) . Students who earned a 2 are strongly encouraged to make corrections. Corrected quizzes can receive a score of up to 2.5.

GRADING: In general-- What the letters mean: R = Received (work is in but hasn't been graded yet) X = Excused (work based on in-class activity; if not present, work can't be completed (example: watched a video in class and wrote a response; if you missed the video, you can't write the response) Z or NR = Not Received or Missing (work has not been turned in, so zero credit has been applied)
What a 2.5 means: Higher than a 2, not yet a 3. Obviously this is a wide range (2.1 --> 2.9). Are you just over a 2, or just under a 3? You may not know (check the rubric to see if you can tell). Feel free to ask. Sometimes I may put a 2.5+ (just under a 3) or a 2.5- (just over a 2) on your paper, but I can only put a 2.5 in the grade book. Don't focus on the grade; as you can see, it's a limited system. Almost always, if you received a 2.5 and would like to earn proficiency (a 3), you are welcome (and encouraged) to improve or redo your work to show your learning/competence. I would be happy to change your grade to indicate additional learning.
Making corrections: If you scored a 1 on your quiz, you are required to make corrections If you scored a 2 on your quiz, you are strongly encouraged to make corrections Corrections can bring your score up to a 2.5 Procedure: 1. Get out your notes or look for the notes I have posted on my website. (My notes will be posted in the days before the quiz. Check StudentVUE to get the date of the quiz.) 2. Do not erase any wrong answers. (Seeing what you did wrong can help you learn.) 3. Use a pen or different colored pencil to write the correct answer on the quiz OR Write the question # and the correct answer on a piece of notebook paper. 4. You may make corrections at home or come in a lunch, after school, or at academic assistance.
