Objectives: -- Express characteristics of a life of a soldier in World War I Activities: -- View short video on American entry into WWI. -- View primary source letters from World War I soldiers. Analyze as a class. (What did they write about? What feelings were expressed? Etc.) -- Receive Soldier's Letter Home RAFT assignment (see below). -- Get in the "trench" (on the floor between desks). Receive letter-writing pad and pencils from CO (Commanding Officer) Ms. Schaedler who has ordered you to write home to keep up support for the war on the homefront. You may select your rank [Private (Pvt), Private First Class (Pfc), Sergeant (Sgt), Sergeant First Class (Sfc), Lieutenant (Lt), Captain (Cpt)]. Start writing home. Independent Learning: -- Alternate debate assignments due Monday (if you were not able to participate due to absence or not being prepared) -- Letter home RAFT due Tuesday (You may use all the notes you have -- packet, handouts, textbook, videos we've seen, images shown, etc.) -- Weekly Weekend Work -- Check VUE -- Do any missing work shown in VUE -- Check OG gmail for messages from teachers -- Clean out/Organize backpack -- Restock supplies Notes/Handouts/Material covered in class:
