Great Depression (affected countries world-wide) 3. Rise of Dictators (all felt their society was superior to others) Stalin (Totalitarianism) in USSR [gov't has total control] Mussolini (Fascism) in Italy [extreme nationalism, militarism, blind loyalty] Hitler (Nazism/Fascism) in Germany [racism/anti-Semitism] General Tojo (military takeover of gov't) 4. Military Aggression (all relatively unchallenged) Japan --> China (Manchuria & Nanjing) for land and resources Italy --> Ethiopia Germany --> Rhineland, Austria, Sudetenland (part of Czechoslovakia) 5.
